1981
Established Petroleum Independent & Exploration (PIE)
PIE Corporation, a predecessor and affiliate of MRP was established as an upstream exploration company.
1997
Founded InterOil (NYSE: IOC, 2010-2013)
InterOil Corporation is a vertically integrated oil and gas company with a primary focus in Papua New Guinea, with a market capitalization of over US$5.2 billion.
2004
Completed construction of Papua New Guinea’s first oil refinery
InterOil Corporation constructed the first oil refinery in Papua New Guinea – Napa Napa InterOil.
2006
Established an efficient downstream network in Papua New Guinea
InterOil Corporation established and operated an integrated downstream distribution network through the acquisition of Shell and BP retail and distribution assets in Papua New Guinea. This network was seamlessly integrated with the refinery, achieving a dominant 85% retail market share.
2009
Achieved world record gas discoveries
InterOil Corporation discovered over 12+ Tcf or over 1.6 billion barrels of oil equivalent in Papua New Guinea, independently certified. Guinness World Record achieved for the Antelope Gas Condensate, with the highest flow rate of 705 mmscfpd.
2014
Upstream Acquisition in Permian Basin
PIE Corporation, an affiliate of MRP acquired ~11,000 acres in the Permian Basin, expanding its new in-field drilling operations.
2016
ExxonMobil acquired InterOil
ExxonMobil acquired InterOil Corporation for more than US$2.5 billion. InterOil’s assets include the Elk-Antelope gas fields in the Gulf Province of Papua New Guinea and exploration licenses covering about 16,000 square kilometers in Papua New Guinea. This acquisition supports the development of the Papua LNG project, which will have a liquefaction capacity of up to six million tonnes of LNG per annum.
2016
Acquired Forestar Group
MRP was founded with the acquisition of Forestar Group and its mineral assets. MRP owns over 500,000 mineral acres and over 1,100,000 acres of carbon sequestration rights along the Gulf Coast region.
